How To Change My Password

Changing a password you know

  1. Open Settings from your account menu.
  2. Go to the Security section.
  3. Enter your current password, then your new password twice.
  4. Save. You stay signed in on this device.

Your current password is required because it confirms it is you at the keyboard rather than someone using a session left open on an unlocked laptop.

Password requirements

  • At least 8 characters — the minimum the form enforces. Longer is better.
  • An uppercase letter and a lowercase letter.
  • A number.
  • A symbol.

The strength meter updates as you type, and rates a password on how many of those five requirements it meets. Eight characters is the floor rather than a target: a passphrase of three or four unrelated words with a number and a symbol is both stronger and easier to remember than a short, complicated string — and a password manager is better than both.

Resetting a password you have forgotten

  1. On the sign-in page, select Forgot password.
  2. Enter your email address.
  3. Open the reset email and follow the link. Reset links are single-use and expire, so request a fresh one rather than reusing an old email.
  4. Set a new password and sign in.

If the reset email does not arrive, check spam and quarantine first, then contact us.

If you think your account has been accessed

Change the password immediately, then tell us so we can look at the access records. Reports can contain commercially sensitive project information — and the documents behind them name real people, as how to complete a RAMS explains they must. That is one of the reasons we hold them for no longer than necessary; see is my data secure.
